CHARITY QUILT DAY NEEDS YOUR HELP a note from Rachel
Dear Quilters, It has been an great start to our groups “Ongoing Charity Quilt Project” and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who have given so much of their time, skill and supplies to help others in the community.
Cuddle Quilts are SNT quilts that have been donated to the many wonderful hospitals below over the years.
They are used in the neonatal “NICU’s” and are used by nurses, babies and families to give both comfort and warmth The quilts cover cover the top of the incubators when necessary to block out light, give warmth to the babies when they are cuddled and fed, and lend a cheerful feeling to the entire unit. They are also distributed to the other wonderful children’s units (cancer center, burn unit and transplant unit)
Our first Charity Quilt day, held in April 2003 was attended by 12 volunteers and we completed 24 quilts to donate to Project Linus! These quilts were then disributed to area hospitals in Herkimer County, NY
Our 2nd Charity Quilt Day, Held in Nov. 2003 was attended by 4 volunteers and we completed 12 quilts to donate to Faxton-St Lukes Childrens Cancer Center in Utica, NY!
Our 3rd Charity Quilt Day, Held in April 2004- was attended by 9 volunteers and we completed 18 ‘Cuddle Quilts’. They were donated to Albany Medical Center (some to NICU, some to cancer center, some to burn unit)
Our 4th annual Charity Quilt Day, was held in October 2004- was attended by 5 volunteers and we completed 16 “Cuddle Quilts” donated to the birthplace at Faxton St Lukes, in Utica NY
